I am looking at using a Fox body write-off as parts donor car for a v8 conversion to an older RX7. I want the best available as I may be taking brakes and suspension components in addition to the drive train. How much did these cars evolve in that time?

Drivetrain was the same in the GT and the LX. Which was funny, because the LX was faster because it weighed less without the skirts and such.

87-88 had speed density setups, (but I think the 88 CA cars were mass air), I'm prettys sure the 89-93's were virtually identical, with the exception of the pistons. In 93 Ford started using the hypercrap pistons.

frm 87 to 93, the only difference between GT's and 5.0 LX's is the girly-man skirts on the GT and some interior options.

The main nuts and bolts are basically the same

An 89-92 donor car will be your best bet. LX and GT are the same.

The 89-92 will have mass-air control and forged pistons.
