I bought a Summit 2 pass with 1 inch row aluminum rad. and it ran hotter than the 3 pass rad. How would this happen? I have been running no thermostat either. In my 3 core rad. it ran much cooler without the thermostat. Anyways just wanted to see how a alum. rad. could run hotter than a 3 pass brass.

The aluminum unit flows better than the stocker so the coolant doesn't have a chance to transfer any heat, it's moving too quick. Installing the stat should take care of this as it will give the coolant a chance to pick up some heat in the engine and also to release some of it while in the rad instead of just rushing through.

Ok so for an alum. rad. running without a them. would make it hotter but in a brass it makes it cooler? That could be the problem. Thanks.
