AFR Enforcer heads ?

34293 Views 121 Replies 29 Participants Last post by  rednotch
Is anyone using the AFR Enforcer heads? I was looking at rebuilding some GT40 3 bar heads but the price of the enforcers have got me thinking. I understand they are off shore castings with the renegade valve train but being AFR wouldn’t the quality be good? I have seen several write ups but no first hand experience. Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't think afr would give them there port shape or chamber shape. Dart heads usually port out very well.

Keeping control of the dye trail may change your mind
Mine look nothing like that.
I did play with the floor bias on ssr alot.

Any progress on your son’s hip recovery or his build? Really liked what you were putting together and the work you were putting in.
He is good. He got a plowing contract ,so he has been getting a few trucks in order . Things have changed a little around here. The 1994 gt is mine now and the 87 notch I showed a pic of before is now my sons . Runs 14 flat with street tires,4.10 and long tubes with a summit duel plane and summit 600 carb. Think was 102mph. Stock long block I assume. This how it was ,just tuned on it some

I have been collecting parts for years. This engine will be these heads and a 227/238 on 109. I will let him borrow my engine lol. I want see it run in the coupe.
Have another engine with gt40ps ,Ed cam
Have a set Eteeet heads I will probably put on that stock long block. Will have some answers sometime. I do have a .030 6.0LS/ ls3 heads, that is going in something eventually .

ONE time with a big block chevy i decided to cheap out and buy speedmaster/procomp/skip white/etc.... heads... they looked decent enough to the naked eyeball when arrived... they were shiney and somewhat clean.

now at this point yall may need to know i worked at butler performance machine shop... so i get pretty good deals on parts... and well may labor is free to me..

i gathered all parts needed for my little budget build 468, and started assembly of the heads. I did NOT use the flow bench at any time, partly because it didnt really matter on this low hp build... and partly because thats not in my department.

while assembling the heads i didnt run into anything major, but there were a few places i decided to touch up, smooth out, or just plain put a hand on because i was in there...... installed valves after cutting seats and valves... basic 3 angle. installed comp cam springs for a hyd roller, guideplates, and arp studs. Guideplates were generic bbc with no name as far as i know... honestly dont remember where they even come from.

Now comes time to install for the final time on the motor. a Holley intake fitted fairly decent. a 1050 gas dominator went on top of that, with msd distributor and 7al. put it in a chevy 2 and ran 6.3 with it right out of the box. i was happy.

End of the month came and its time to pay the bills at the shop... i added up the dirt cheap cost of the heads bare... and all the good parts i put inside... and bam! it cost just as much to do that as buy a decent set of brodix or afr heads... and i'm darn sure they dont preform as well (now i havent done a back to back test but just going off experience) next time i'll save my dollars and just buy quality first.

It in this day and age it only matters how you feel. Screw the facts and common sense. Did you feel like you saved money prior to doing the math? 😝
That cause your combustion efficiency was junk
Kills the gas dynamics, wave action. Been there done that and fixed it. Many times. Now I understand it better. I been ginny pig many times.
Almost weekly sometimes years ago.
No problem being it again
Yes, and I think you have an idea what they were doing there with that intake bias.....
Thanks Tom. Ya have a good feel for bowls/port/bias, pitot- stability.

Of corse I tried your pic 1st lol.
Got bias working, port stable, had some decent flows. With both legs flowing and stable, It can be really ugly lol
kinda turned into a r&d project. .

My reply to this post probably didn't make sense.
Skim read it.
I jumped the gun and thought the ending was,
it didn't make any power

Even if I bought a better set of heads.
I would check the quality of the air flow., not just the quantity.

it made enough power... honestly the goal wasnt to make big hp... they performed OK.. i don't have a problem with that, its just for the time and money spent when its all said and done, i should have got a set of BB2's and never looked back. in all seriousness a decent set of oval port motor home heads would have probably worked on my application.
For comparison's sake, a 260cc AFR LS3 casting's chamber.

copyright, patent laws, don't mean a lot to them, intellectual property theft is a way of business.
You realize that all the Western Companies who set-up shop in China literally have them the IP, right?

You want cheap, you get cheap. FYI, China has premium products too but US consumers shop on price.

We've done all this too ourselves.

I can even say I profited off of it. During my long stint in Asia I was paid more than many Americans salary in tax free per diem alone.

Another nugget for you...... China grew tired of so many foreign companies bringing in old technology and low margin products. Now when you bring in equipment it has be be less than 7 years old (or an envelope passed to someone at customs). People try to game it obviously but the point is, the cost of doing business has gone up in China and now companies are looking at Vietnam and Cambodia for low cost manufacturing.
