Buying parts to do the T-5 swap, and one article I read made it sound like the T-5 was a different length in the '94-'95 cars. I thought they were all generic and the bellhousing was different. Anyone know for sure?
I've got a FRP World Class T-5 with the 2.95 1st gear ratio in my shop still in the wrapper I'm saving for my '66 build I might have to use in one of my daily drivers here soon. Just want to make sure it will bolt up.

Yeah, the input shafts on the 94/95 are longer than pre 94. That's why the bellhousing is taller for a 94/95 if compared. It's only about an 1/8 inch or so, but I went through hell finding that out the wrong way. I cracked the bellhousing on my 94 car and put a fox bell in it, it didn't work too well.

It will work however you have to use your sn bellhousing. The shifter has to be moved back. So you will have to modify your shifter hole in floor pan. Cut back towards console a 1/2 inch. It will blow hot air in car if not sealed. Double check drive shaft length it may need to modified

Yeah its 5/8" diff I recently looked into using my fox T5 in my sn car and they make a driveshaft spacer from MPS that will go between the driveshaft and the pinion flange and it moves the shifter forward in the SN cars botu 5/8" but other than that its no biggie ... the only thing stopping me is I cant find a trans pigtail harness for mine

so if I want to go no further than a bellhousing swap, I should get a 94/95 t5 instead of a 92 t5 that I was about to buy tomorrow LOL

why do you want a 94-95 trans? It seems to me like the thing you SHOULD do is buy a fox depth bell and tun the T5Z you have

actually, you will be S.O.L if you buy the fox trans. In order to make it fit, you need a fox bellhousing, fox clutch fork, modified crossmember, and a 5/8" driveshaft spacer.

seems to me like you should buy a 94+ trans. BE ADVISED... 94-98 V6 T5's will fit your car...

A local guy who rebuilds transmissions told me I could bring him both and he could just swap out the input shafts to make it work

Apparently it is a simple swap out. Just remove the front bearing retainer bolts around the input shaft and pull it out? I understand you don't have to press anything off or clearance anything to reinstall.

No, but while you're doing it you should take the time to measure the endplay on the input shaft and shim it accordingly.

he is wrong. your cobra T5 has the pocket bearing between the input and mainshaft... if it was a regular GT T5, you'd be all set...

Oh crap...Now my head hurts thinking about all of this. What about a World Class T5 that is sold aftermarket? Anyway to tell which bearing it has? Other than tearing into it? I got mine from D&D Performance about 5 or 6 years ago.

Z's and the cobras have the pocket beairng...Z wouldnt swap anyway, the tooth count is different
"Z's" ?? Care to elaborate? Are you refering to my aftermarket trans? If so, is there a Z code on the info plate somewhere I can look at to verify? If so, this would seal the deal for me to not try a T5 swap into my '95 since I cannot change the input shaft to fit the bell housing.

Well, you heard wrong.

WTF is with this place these days? Somebody will ask a question, they'll get 17 more or less correct answers, then some yahoo comes in and says exactly the opposite. This is why so many people have learned to confuse opinion and fact.

so adder the 94-95 v6 t5 is the same as teh v8 t5???
Actually, the 94-98 V6 T5 is the same as the 94-95 V8 T5 with the exception of the Cobra T5 (which has the pocket bearing in the input shaft)

the 99-04 V6 T5 CAN BE USED AS WELL However, the tailshaft housing must be removed, a Speedo drive gear must be installed(as well as putting a notch in the output shaft for the clip) and a pre-99 tailshaft housing must be used.

I am running a 2001 V6 trans in mine(94 GT).I installed a speedometer calibrator and it works great. When I installed my 3.73,s later all it took was to push a button to get the speedo right again.:)

I was pretty sure that you had to remove the electronic pickup in the 99+ trans and swap it to the gear style... is this not correct?
