60# Deka Injectors with stock ECU (A9L)

If I were to install my Deka 60# injectors on my 93 mustang with the existing ECU (A9L), will they work?

And please forgive my ignorance, but can engine tuners “tune” a stock A9L via some sort of piggyback chip, or can tuners only tune stock cars by tuning the FMU and the air/fuel ratio (im installing a Vortech on the car next weekend)?

If you install the deka 60s you would need a calibrated maf with the fmu or have the car tuned, no real reason to have both done. But i feel that deka 60s without a good tune would make the car pig rich even with the proper fmu disc.

I would just leave the stock injectors and the appropriate fmu disc if you're going that route, don't half upgrade by doing the injectors and nothing else.

Yeah you can run injectors that large, or even much larger on a stock eec but it needs to be tuned to do so. A calibrated maf can get the car running, but will likely still need work to get it running correctly.

I agree with what 96pushrod said.

Also, you do not need or want an FMU.
FMU was a 'bandaid' for too small injectors.
If 60's are too small, go bigger (along with tune).

I guess you didn't state what the rest of the engine consists of. What heads, cam, intake?

As for tuning, there are a few options. They are a 'chip' that plugs into the ECU.
I have a Tweecer, Moates was another but they are out of business. I'm sure you can find a used one out there.

With the Tweecer, I'm actually running 60lb Dekas with 80mm ProM 'calibrated' for 42's.

Thank you! I will be purchasing a Tweecer and ProM. Thank you for the insights!

btw, it’s currently a stock engine, but I have AFR 165 heads, edelbrock performer II intake, msd distributor, a Vortech SCI, and a few other things sitting in my garage waiting to go on.
