When pulling driver's side axles out of Rangers for 5-Lug Axles.. What years will work and will Aerostar van axles work?? Does it have to be 2WD or 4WD?

Yep. I have one driver’s side axle from a Ranger and one passenger side axle from an Aerostar in my car... they're the same axle.

"From an ‘83 to ‘92 4 cylinder or 3.0L V6 Ranger/Bronco II with a 7.5″ rear end you will need two driver’s side axles. Only the driver’s side will work as the pumpkin on these rear ends is offset and the axles are different lengths (you need the longer of the two axles). It should measure 29-5/32″.

From an Aerostar you will need two of the passenger side axles from an 86 to 97 model.

The axles are all the same so they can be mix-matched (i.e. – one driver’s side axle from a Ranger and one passenger side axle from an Aerostar)."

I grabbed drums off a Ranger, I can't recall if the Aerostars use the same drums or not, but it should be easy enough to figure out at the junkyard. As with most Ford parts I believe the 9" drums were used on many different models.

Every u-pull yard around here seems to have 15 or 20 Rangers, so I just checked out 3 or 4 trucks until I found a set of drums with very little wear on them.

I picked up 6 sets for axles today for $11.50 each.. I pulled most of them from passenger side Aerostars.
