anybody know a good 400hp setup thats fuel injected. gonna be working a lot this summer so im thinking about putting in a 347. wondering if i should bore the stock shortblock or go with a completed 347 shortblock? also i want to get 400hp on motor with the 347 so what other things am i going to need to buy?

400 is a good # to shoot for a street 347. I'd say a set nice 205cc heads, tfs-r or box r intake. Here's some math for ya (at least component potential)-
Cubic inches X cubic feet minute X .257 / 8.
If you choose your parts wisely, that formula is fairly accurate for crank HP. Of course you would have drive train loss at about 15-18%

You don't need to build a 347 if you're trying for a 400HP engine, unless you're talking about RWHP, even then it's not a requirement.

well to be honest i dont want to have to buy forged everything and a $1k set of heads etc plus a turbo or sc to get that. id rather have a 347 or maybe even a 331. if its cheaper to go the 331 route then id do it.

Here is a combo a guy I always saw at our local Mustang shop had. It was solid and smooth. I remember a lot of the details cause I always thought about duplicating it. Simple and failry inexpensive parts.

347.
AFR 185 heads
Comp Cams 274HR cam
Edelbrock RPM intake
70mm throttle body
30lb injectors
1-5/8" shorty headers
C&L 76mm MAF

His car made something around 365 rwhp on a Dynojet behind a 5 speed and was tame. So that is roughly 415 flywheel hp. Drove like a stocker.

Almost my exact same combination except I chose 24 lb injectors. Probably have to go to 30's later (already had the 24's)...engine is not in/running yet. Still gathering parts and hoping for 350 HP at the flywheel...or at least thereabouts. That should be plenty-at least for me.

I did the same with AFR205s and a Vic 5.0 and made 400whp, and tame is right

Is this a daily driven Mustang? Which gearset are you running in the rearend? How high are you spinning this motor?

WHo says you need forged everything and a turbo to get 400 HP? What exactly are you trying to accomplish?

daily driven yes, im just looking for some fun but also yes it is daily driven til i find myself a bike as gas doesnt seem to be looking so great. still have the 327 stock gears rebuilt. will change to 355 or maybe 373. i would like to use it for weekend fun with racers. and forged bc i would want to run more psi which would cause the stock crank to break eventually
