Nice! How did everything pan out?

The other machine shop said that with my GT crank the bearings wouldn’t of made contact with the fillets. My fillets are recessed and the Cobra cranks’ fillets are not.
He thinks a piece of trash got in there to cause the bearing to spin. We had to machine the crank, refinish 1 connecting rod and put it all back together. So far so good

With that being said, I want to take the issue to small claims, but it doesn’t appear that I would have enough evidence to win. I wish I had a definitive answer with evidence as to why the bearing spun :(

Not enough evidence? So the rods weren't installed backwards? Or you are saying even though they were it shouldn't have mattered? Wth...

Anyway yeah I hear that on the suspension, same boat myself. Halfway there at least.

Ya the rods were in backwards, but it didn’t matter. I was confused for sure. Still am. If I had a Cobra crank in the car I would have been screwed right off the bat. The GT cranks have a recessed style fillet, so theres no contact. Bad luck I suppose.

So it was just a #### build? Crud got under a bearing during install? They didn't torque it right?

Eh whatever, sucks man. At least its running.

Took it to the machine shop that did the work and they refused to take the pan off and show me the rest of the bearings. I wasn’t going to leave it with them so I took it to another machine shop recommended by a speed shop.
I just caught this thread. I'm sorry to hear about these issues. I'm right there with you. I too did not trust the original shop and decided to go to a local and reputable machine shop to have the engine disassembled. I wish you the best of luck. I hate these type of life lessons.

This whole thread is incorrect. Nothing described by the OP fits the picture shown.

Its a stock ford crankshaft that has radius relieved journals and the rod is a bearing centered with relieved chamfers....meaning this rod could be installed either direction, either side, no proper orientain needed.

Typical NEWBIE... My first post was a notification to those that may feel this was a recent posting but instead that this post was an older post and that the OP probably had no use for any help. If you feel that was a negative comment directed towards you that struck a nerve and that you didn't care to read then go away. You obviously have nothing else to offer to those on this forum, proven by now your 9th post since 2021.

Edit:
Let me explain my initial posting above. New individuals arrive all the time and when they sign up they are bombarded with posts that are sometimes 20 years old but they don't look at how old the post is. The majority of those new individuals are thankful that someone mentioned that it was an old post and so do those that are here daily/weekly.

People have a choice to read posts like mine as a negative or a positive comment... You also had that choice..

Not a newb, been here since the fall of mod depot.

The intelligent forum member would attempt to engage....in this case "re-engage" others into the conversation, but no, you shut it down. Good job.

Go to facebook and do that crap. Be welcoming here
