351w rpm limit?

First post here, just getting into 351w’s.
So, my bracket car (83 mustang gt) got laid up after blowing the 3rd engine in 4 years, having my first kid and buying a new house. It’s only been 22 years! I’ve raced everything from escorts to f150’s to 8.90 roadsters over the years. Just retired in July and the kids are gone, I’m getting the gt back out. Have a 460/c6 combo I was going to put in but decided to stick to sportsman for the first year or two.(13.5-20 et) I am NOT running another 8000rpm small block...ever! Want a 5500rpm big block ....but, in the meantime am looking at a 351w/p heads I have as well as a .512/[email protected] cam I have.
So, junkyard 351 with 750dp I have and 1 3/4 long tubes with aforementioned heads/ cam. Guessing 300 hp, that puts me at 110mph and with my 4.86’s, about 6400.
Wild guess, but would the stock bottom end hold that? I’m guessing no but would like a second opinion. It has a 9” out of a 76 bronco and I have a set of 3.50 gears too.
I’m thinking that cam won’t wind the 351 up(still making power) past 6000 so maybe go 3.50’s anyway. How’s that for a first post? Lol!

Yeah, worse than I thought.
The outer four Intake bolts all broke off. Here’s the intake pic.

So more cleaning and bolt extraction in my future. Doing a lot of other work so this is really sitting days at a time before I look and curse at it.
Looks like a filthy gummed up engine you might see back in the 1970's.
Walked by it today while putting the winter tires on my truck. Intake and exh bolts broke off in the heads, have to pull the rockers and pushrods to properly clean them... I have a set of headgaskets... maybe I’ll clean up the gt40p heads and bolt them on.
Of course nothing is simple, I’ll have to check to see if they need guides and /or 5angle valve job.(have my own equipment to do it so why not before I bolt them on right?) I don’t want to port them though as I still have the dream of building a crate engine so I can run the local S/SS races. Just finished a front end on a ranger and the tire change as well. Still not feeling any love for this thing. It’ll sit for another day or two. I have a mid 70’s distributor but I’ll have to dig around to find a spark box.
And an intake... need an intake...
The broken bolts are the least of your concerns. That is one of the dirtiest sludged up engines I've ever seen. Thats going to take forever to clean up. I admire your ambition and attitude.
It needs to be baked in the oven, then blasted, then machined. To do it properly that is.
bolt it back together, fire it up and run a gallon of marvels mystery oil through it.

good god that is a filthy son of a bitch.
I would pull it all down clean it up and put it all back together reusing everything minus broken parts. I wouldnt put any faith or money in the engine til it proved itself first.

I'd strip it, send it to the machine shop to be checked. I'd clean it, extract all the broken bits, chase all holes, Then if it passed the check I'd have it machined and go from there. It's not a roller motor so no need to check the cam journals for cracks, but new bearings EVERYWHERE are a must in this pile to go forward IMO.
This is the 351w that was extracted from the titanic wreckage. It powered the auxiliary propellers.

Thanks for the replies. I’m not sending it to a machine shop, I’ll ******* clean it best I can and throw in the bearings/pump and gt40p heads and let it eat. If I planned on using this for anything more than an “interim “ motor I’d do it right. If it runs good next summer then the following winter I’ll decide whether to go 460 or build this properly. At this point, max rpm being 5000 or so, the worst that can happen is it starts smoking or knocking. The crank looks good(didn’t mike however) but I doubt I’ll have any lower end issues with a stock 250hp engine turning 5000.
The 460 will get the $$

I have my own magnaflux and have all the valve grinding equipment, I’d like to hot tank it but then it would need cam bearings. This is not a 450hp aluminum headed 393, it’s not going to be anything other than a stock 351 with a 4bbl.
Why does everyone avoid changing cam bearings? I've watched a friend change cam bearings a couple times.
Wow. That's the most gummed up engine I've ever seen. Keep at it as I'll love to see this thing run.
The RPM limit for the 351W is exactly the same as it is for every engine ever made.

1 rpm before it breaks.

Haven’t even been in the garage a couple days now since I rolled my mud truck Saturday night.
This’ll take longer to get back to as the wife wants the truck done so we can go wheeling again.
