Looking for some more rpm , running out of steam about 6400.
combo:
347
10 to1 comp
Z304 heads, unported 2.02 1.6
Cam- intake 232 @.050, valve open 11 btdc, valve close 41 abdc, centerline 106
exh 242 @.050, valve open 56.2 bbdc, valve close 6.3 atdc, centerline 114
lift .576 w/ 1.6 rocker
Comp short travel lifters
Pac 1218 springs
funnel web intake w/ 650 dbl pmpr
4 spd, 4.71 gears, 28" tire, 3250 car and driver
i have 3" exhaust w/ 2 chamber flowmaster knock-off's (summit).
The cam is ground with 4 degrees advance in it, thinking i need to retard 2-4 degrees, may need more cam.
best time is 12.65 @ 112 mph.other thought i have is less gear, she is strong 4000-6200.

I think if you want to rev higher and actually make more power, a different cam would be the way to go. Retarding the cam may not make you run any faster at the track.

I feel like 112 mph in the 1/4 is on the slower side. Was the cam degreed upon install?

It's also a 114 LS with the intake at 106. With no boost or gas. I agree with your assessment.

I think he needs to communicate with Ed.

I'd try a bigger carb, and lose the flowmasters before going internal. It'll give you a better baseline, JMHO.

I believe it's a 114* ECL... (110* LSA +4*)

Carb is tiny for making any real power...

Flowmasters costing a ton of power...

Crappy valve spring combination...

Needs more camshaft...

The entire combination is not efficient... 112 mph is an 11.7/11.8 pass

Thanks for the input. I have a larger carb (holley 950 hp, sounds like its more like around 830cfm) and i'm going to dump the mufflers to get thru the next couple weeks til the tracks shut down for the season. Trying to get seat time in the car. Ed, I was thinking a 1219x for a spring, but if i go bigger cam i'll match springs to it.

Just for a slight comparision: just did a 9:1 353 (302 based), massaged tw205's, super Victor intake, 238/242 .565/.565 mild solid roller on a 115+4, 650 carb and cheap 1 5/8 headers. Made peak power at 6700-6800. Pretty flat hp curve. Engine build for boost and broken in on dyno n/a (that's why to small carb- (I run efi in car) and way to small headers). Wanted peak power 7200ish rpm (turbos will carry power another 500ish rpm). With larger carb and headers, would have carried more rpm. Wasn't looking for big numbers running n/a.

Thanks Stangjumper. That sounds like a runner! yep, have the 1 5/8 headers also.
