Just seeing if anyone is interested. I’m building a 331 from a stock block for my 93’ LX. I will be having it dynoed after it’s complete. John Bouchard is building my short block. I’ll finish the top end. If you are interested let me know and I’ll post my parts list and dyno numbers. This may help someone who is trying to decide on parts or cubic inches etc….

I'm curious why you went with a 331 and not a 332 or 333?
No sir. He is doing my machine work, building my short block and running the dyno once the engine is complete.
-Trickflow Specialties 11R 190 cylinder heads w/ ARP 7/16 rocker studs. Set up at Flowtech Induction.
-FTI Gen 6 PAC 1207X valve spring package
-Morel MRL-5323 link bar hydraulic roller lifters
-Comp Cams Pro Magnum chromoly
1.6 roller rocker arms
-Comp Cams billet core 231/238 duration .580/.579 lift 110 LSA camshaft. LSL intake lobes/ LRL exhaust lobe
-Clevite cam bearings
-Edelbrock RPM Air Gap intake
-AED HO 750 cfm carburetor
-Holley 1 inch aluminum carburetor spacer
-BBK 1 3/4 inch ceramic coated long tube headers
I’ll take it. Compression will be around 10.7 to 1 with the 56cc combustion chambers. The bottom end is.
-DSS Racing SX 4.030 forged pistons 5cc dish
-Scat 4340 forged “I beam” connecting rods 5.4 inch w/ king bearings
-Eagle cast crank shaft 3.25 stroke w/ clevite bearings
-DSS Racing main cap girdle
-DSS oil pickup
-Melling M68 oil pump
-ARP oil pump driveshaft
-DSS oil pan
The block just got hot tanked Friday (24 Sep). Hopefully get all the machine work done this coming week and short block done by 8 October. I’ll pick up the short block and finish the top end at my house. Hopefully by 15 October get it on the dyno. I can’t wait to hear it for the first time and see how much power it’ll make. I hope to be driving my car again by the end of October.

Yours seems a little more aggressive than my 331.
My 331 specs:
Edelbrock Performer heads
Edelbrock RPM 2 EFI intake
70 mm throttle body
xe274hr comp cam
1.6 rockers
MAC 1 3/4 short tube headers
Dyno numbers:
326 rear wheel horsepower 357 lbs torque.
I hope so. John thinks it’ll be closer to 500 at the crank. He built a similar 347 with an E 303 plus cam that made 551 crank hp. DSS pistons, TFS 11R 190 heads and E 303 plus cam.

I think you'll hit at least 400 horsepower to the wheels with the 11R heads.

Sounds like a decent combo. Love the 331's. My old one made Great power and ran really good at the track too. until I hurt the crank. #1 main bearing. Still have the rotating assembly as I did not blow it up. Was together for 13 years. I'll put another one together once I get a new crank.

Then you're high.....although RWHP is a lousy gauge of what the engine is doing.

I was skeptical too but I have no reason not to believe him. He built the engine and he dynoed it.
