How can 255 40's and 275 40's be the same height? Isn't a 255 45 a closer tire height wise to a 275 40?

I'll go by nitto's as that's what I run.

255/45 is 25.95" tall.

275/40 is 25.59" tall.

255/40 is 25.08" tall.

It's almost half an inch. Noticeable? depends on the person viewing.

As you can see, my car's low, so I opted with the shorter, better looking tire.

The ways of the reading are not with you.

The 275/40 is in the middle. However, those of us with good taste and common sense, deem the rear tires should be taller. Otherwise you look goofy.

I'm thinking about the 555's myself. How do you like them?
All I've ran on this car, but I got 35k miles out of a set of 285/40's that were really too big for a 17x9.

Was it lowered? If so, which springs did you run?
No I had the stock springs in it. But on that car even the stock rims on the front rubbed in full lock, wasn't any worse with the 9" wheels.. They were AFS 03/04 Cobras..

I'd do the 255/40s and 275/40 combo as well. I saw it on another guy's '95 Cobra in the SN-95 wheel thread and a friend of mine just went with that combo on some '03 Cobras for his '98. It has been a proven combo and still looks good.
I’m looking to do this but am afraid of not being able to rotate (directional tires) and so I’m leaning towards going 275 all around . I want the wider look and don’t plan to race
