For more performance you end up with boost or heads as several mentioned.Otherwise a stall converter for the auto trans is about the only other mod that you will "feel" or show up on a timeslip.
My 01 gt vert automatic is in the same boat.
I have done 70mm throttle body and plenum,modified stock airbox,magnaflow catted x pipe,dynomax catback,aluminum driveshaft and 3.55 gears,and a canned 93 octane tune.I don't feel like spending $$$ on a blower or heads for a sunday cruiser that my wife drives more than I do.A stall converter is next on my list.

Cams could get you another 20-30 to the wheels without having to do the valve springs if you went with MHS NA 2 cams.
