Sorry it took so long for me to see this thread.
If Ford seals the taillights in the same manner as they do with headlights, heat won't open them. The sealant doesn't melt until about 900 degrees, which will already destroy everything else.
Given the limited aftermarket options that most likely use rubber butyl (which will heat up), I'd recommend looking into hot knifing it and plastic welding it back shut.
