    5.0/5.8 Engine Tech
    Gasket will be good
  2. Dart 347 single 76mm

    5.0/5.8 Engine Tech
That's plenty for the street, especially in that bare bones car. I wish I could afford that front dress setup. Having a vacuum to vent the valve covers is badass. I'll bet their PS pump is NOT noisy as F%^&...
  3. Brand New 600hp short block. Thrust bearing failure 1k miles in

    GT & SOHC
So they took the original filter with all the metal shavings in it, and put on a different one so you wouldn't have any evidence..
  4. Dart 347 single 76mm

    5.0/5.8 Engine Tech
There's a lot of nice parts on this engine. That Jones setup is really nice. There's a lot left in this setup.
  5. rod knock or lifter issue?

    5.0/5.8 Engine Tech
Since the motor will be out, it would be a great time to inspect the rockers, cam and lifters. Drive it home.
  6. rod knock or lifter issue?

    5.0/5.8 Engine Tech
Could be a stuck lifter. What are your immediate plans for the car assuming you get it home?
  7. Any one ever use the lunati 51023 cam?

    5.0/5.8 Engine Tech
    Did a quick search..
  8. Any one ever use the lunati 51023 cam?

    5.0/5.8 Engine Tech
It has a tight Lobe Sep, so it won't drive that great with the stock tune but will pull hard at WOT. I had a 107 LS Cam, and sometimes it would lean backfire.. LOL Never had the car tuned but this was back in the day of chip tuning which IMO was never really affordable.
  9. Innovate widebands :(

    Pro-M EFI Systems
I bought 2 Maxtow AFR Gauges and a Boost Gauge. No issues 2 years+ now.. They look great.
  10. Turbo'd HCI 302 or build a 347?

    5.0/5.8 Engine Tech
It's a dinosaur.. It can't do half the things a modern efi can do. You can get a PIMPXS which is a megasquirt 3 that will plug into the stock harness. You will only need to make a few extra connections for what you choose to run, like maybe a fuel pressure gauge or a wheel sensor for traction...
  11. Turbo'd HCI 302 or build a 347?

    5.0/5.8 Engine Tech
Yeah man, you need an aftermarket EFI but it's way worth it. It's a little more than bolting on a turbo kit. You need the supporting parts, but the system will grow with you. A simple $40 Boost Solenoid will allow you to dial in any level of boost you want just by entering the number. If you're...
  12. Turbo'd HCI 302 or build a 347?

    5.0/5.8 Engine Tech
Nah, you don't need all that. Just run less timing.. It's all in the tune, Really, you could just put a Turbo on the stock Long Block and meet your goals. It would be way cheaper...
  13. Anyone know where to get a motorcraft distributor pickup for '93 5.0?

    5.0/5.8 Engine Tech
Mine died the week I got my motor running.. It was DOA away from home and I had to leave it for a couple days.. That sucked. I ended up getting the Summit Billet Dizzy because I could get that shipped way faster than buying the Pickup Coil online somewhere.. Plus, you need to press off the Gear...
  14. Turbo'd HCI 302 or build a 347?

    5.0/5.8 Engine Tech
Do a single turbo on the stock short block. Do not overbore it, just gap the rings.. Run the stock cam and keep it to 10psi. It will easily rip 400 to the wheels.
  15. 500hp 347ci.

  16. 500hp 347ci.

    5.0/5.8 Engine Tech
I just came across this video.. These guys made great power on a stock porno block with shelf parts. Pretty nice.
  17. Rack bushings

    5.0/5.8 Engine Tech
I replaced them with PU types along with the front and rear Control Arms, Sway Bar Links, Motor Mounts.. The car rides plenty hard as it is. Remember that any bushing helps to isolate road noise and vibration from the Driver. Unless you are building a Race Car, I would stay away from anything...
  18. TFS170 rocker arm studs: Locktite? Thread Sealer?

    5.0/5.8 Engine Tech
I've had a couple magically back out and I put Blue Threadlocker on them. Next time I take the Valve Covers off, I'm redoing them with Ultra Grey. I think it might hold better because of the wide coarse threads of the Studs.. That's just me..Goop holds things together!
  19. PiMPXS vs pro-m

    Engine Management Systems
I'm sure the extra money for the Pro-M is money well spent. But if you need that extra $1200 for other parts then the PIMPXS will work.
  20. Air Fuel monitoring...

    General Mustang Tech
Your motor will be a pile long before you ever lift if the AFR's go lean.. Fortunately, AFR Safeties are common in most aftermarket EFI systems. I have my PIMPXS/Megasquirt 3 setup to drop fuel and spark if it goes 1 point above or below my set point. My motor has dropped out plenty of times...
