  1. NEW SPEED CAL IS AWESOME!!!

    GT & SOHC
There is a hand drawn schematic laying somewhere in the pile of notes I cleaned up about three weeks ago. I'll see if I can find it, I'm gonna be needing one also. Be warned, its basically going to be a schematic and Radio Shack parts list sorta implementation though.
  2. What is the difference between a VSS and an OSS?

    GT & SOHC
Yeah I stated it wrong. The computer measures time between zero crossing edge events ( I said frequency in the previous post, but the initial measurement done is time between edges). So as you go faster the time between edges goes down. Frequency is 1/time so yes speed and frequency are...
  3. What is the difference between a VSS and an OSS?

    GT & SOHC
The VSS and OSS sensors on late model Mustangs are both "variable reluctance" style pickoffs. They both generate an AC waveform whose frequency is inversely proportional to vehicle speed. All that means is the faster you go the higher the frequency of the AC signal. The computer measures the...
  4. MIL eliminators didn't work?

    SVT & DOHC
Ok screw it. Lets just solve it. Swap front O2 sensors. If you get a MIL and the code goes to P0133 its what is now the passenger front O2 (was the drivers...). If it stays P0153 you've got other problems. Do that, post back, and we'll take it form there...
  5. MIL eliminators didn't work?

    SVT & DOHC
Yep, that is correct sorta. And a bad O2 sensor is the most likely cause. However he has a tune. And a several things screwed up in a tune can cause this also, specifically a messed up MAF curve causing incorrect air metering measruements and gross adjustments by the computer. P0153 is a low...
  6. MIL eliminators didn't work?

    SVT & DOHC
Nos94stang, that is not a mil eliminator problem. Bank 2 sensor 1 is your front O2 sensor not your back one. Mil Eliminators cannot cause that code. North Florida Snake, thanks for the intelligent addition! I can tell you really know what your talking about, especially after Nos94stang's reply...
  7. MIL eliminators didn't work?

    SVT & DOHC
Well this is a thread from the past... Pull the codes and post the numbers and then we will know what to do. I want the actual numbers, like P0136, P0151 etc...
  8. Speedometer question, project clone in trouble

    GT & SOHC
I honestly dont know if there is a signal scaling difference between the gauges on the GT and Cobra, but like Tom already pointed out the drive gear is different in the manual GT's and Cobra's. And you can use an electronic compensator, 94 and newer Mustangs all have electronic speedo's. The...
  9. Speedometer question, project clone in trouble

    GT & SOHC
Did you put the whole 160 mph gauge in it or just the white dial faces? If you just did the faces then you'll have to choose which one you want to read correct, the speedo or the odometer. Also, there shouldnt be a "bias error", that is to mean it wont read off by a constant amount, its a...
  10. P0420 and P0430 please help!!

    GT & SOHC
I only have to pass an OBDII scan and yes I did pass that. I have no idea if the catco cats are good enough to pass an actual sniffer test though. Saleen956, I got your email, check your in box.
  11. Converting Electronic vss to mechanical

    GT & SOHC
Never done it but my guess is a pretty solid no. Theres a tranny company called D & D Performance who can help you out I'm sure. http://www.ddperformance.com/ Good luck with it!
  12. P0420 and P0430 please help!!

    GT & SOHC
Yes, I run a Bassani catted X and still have to use Mil Eliminators to keep the MIL off. Its not uncommon.
  13. P0420 and P0430 please help!!

    GT & SOHC
If you're only getting codes P0420 and P0430 then your O2 sensors are functioning fine and all you are failing are the low cat efficiency tests. First off, the EEC V runs a BUTT LOAD of tests on EACH O2 sensor to make sure its working correctly. If one isnt, at least one code is thrown. If the...
  14. IAT(intake air temp) sensor ???'s

    GT & SOHC
Jim you've already got an SCT tune so you're fuel/air and timing are gonna be mapped aggressively and you dont need to fake anything out. What is the particular problem you're having? Got a code thrown? Willie
  15. Converting Electronic vss to mechanical

    GT & SOHC
First off all Mustangs from 94 on use an electronic speedo. The 94-98 cars still retain the drive/driven gear setup that the fox cars used but the cable attach point is plugged and only the VSS (which was present on the fox cars for IAC control) is used. In 99 the drive/driven gear setup was...
  16. speedo problem

    GT & SOHC
The calculated height for your tire is 25.7 inches, that corresponds to 65.3 cm tall tire or 653 mm.
  17. speedo problem

    GT & SOHC
well a 245/45-17 tire calculates to 25.7 inches. And I can promise you that you DONT have a 40" tall tire on your Mustang as I only have a 31" tall tire on my lifted, highly modified Jeep. So I would recheck your math. And yes that can affect it but generally the tire sizes arent gonna affect it...
  18. can you run front o2 sensors in the rear?

    GT & SOHC
No its all cool. In fact Ford indeed lists different part numbers for the fronts (same part number for both fronts) and one part number for each rear for a total of three different part numbers. I have always argued that the main difference in the part number is the color coding and keying of...
  19. can you run front o2 sensors in the rear?

    GT & SOHC
lotsaspray, look at my other posts. They may indeed be different in some of the characteristics but they are still narrow band O2 sensors toggling at 14.64 A/F ratio. Note I said that I was told the fronts were faster acting than the rears. Thats all. But they still sample the air the same way...
  20. speedo problem

    GT & SOHC
Nope, should have taken affect immediately. To test it drive at least 10 miles against a known good speedo. At exactly 10 miles every 0.1 mile difference shown on your trip odometer from the other trip odometer is a 1% error.
