  1. GT40 Heads -- I'm not understanding

    5.0/5.8 Engine Tech
I can’t blame the track, I’m in TX. It was mostly operator error mixed with a not so fast setup. It was my first time out and I had crappy street tires and worn out rear control arms. I can’t remember exactly but it seems like my better times of the night was something like a 9.5-9.6. 100 and...

Quick '95's yall have there. Back in '09 or so I took my '95 to the 1/8 mile for the first time and it was running high 9's and maybe even a 10.... It was mostly stock aside from a cam similar to the e303 and 3.73 gears. Street tires with a not so good drive. High 9's.... I think I even saw...

I went from a 2.73 to a 3.73 to a 3.31 and I like the 3.31 the best. It’ll still break the tires loose but it’s a bit more of a comfortable ride over long distances.

Both tires spin at the same speed?
  5. GT40 Heads -- I'm not understanding

My back in the day was when the GM’s had 275+ horse and the Mustang had 215. No track back then, just dumb kids in street cars with bolt-ons mostly. So we’re talking 14-15 second rides.

What sort of rear end gear and differential does a drifter use?
  7. Advice: used supercharger for 2000 GT?

    GT & SOHC
Older dying thread but, I had 3.73’s on my ‘95 that has a blower and it kinda sucked too. After a few years of that I switched to 3.31’s and I like them quite well. It’ll still blow the tires off, but it’s not like driving a tractor like it was with the 3.73’s. It’s also non intercooled and I...

Do you think if he didn’t have a wideband (which I believe he doesn’t) he’d even notice it wasn’t “perfect?” Mike S seemed to have decent luck with a 94/95 GT/Cobra MAF for a little while. The head cheese over on the efi dyno tuning forum was leading his people to believe that tuning is required...

I’m running pretty much that same combo now aside from I have 19#’ers and the tuning was done via dyno and an SCT chip. It ran ok enough to drive it around with the FMU 19’s and a previous n/a tune. Like I stayed in the previous post I even drove it 20 some odd miles home in bumper to bumper...
  10. Stock MAF & EGR Upgrades

How much extra power would you guess the ported E7’s are good for over “regular” E7’s? How much power can the fox MAF support? My ‘95 made 205 rear horse with a fresh 306, rebuilt E7’s (Comp springs) and a Comp cam similar to the E303. Later the lower HO intake was ported and it made 223. This...

The cobra MAF should still be plug and play with his 19#’ers no? It’s his computer that is looking for 19’s not the MAF. As long as he still has 19# injectors no tune or new computer required as far as that goes.

Could it be possible that the larger MAF didn’t seem to make a difference because the stock one was large enough to support the amount of power you were making? I went from the stock TB (60mm I think) to a 65mm on my ‘95 and I couldn’t tell a difference in that either. It looks cooler through.

Like, “I’m using 42# injectors so I’d better tell the ecm via “tuning” that I’m using 42#’ers?
  14. Milling and rebuilding E7 heads

I agree better heads would be better, but $150 (springs not included) would be hard to beat.

“Calibrated” MAF’s- in laypersons terms they are a “work around” instead of getting a tune when changing injector sizes. You are correct, the ECU is what’s “calibrated” for the injector size, not the stock MAF. For example the 94/95 Cobra’s and GT’s have the same exact MAF, but the Cobra has 24#...

Great post. Sums it all up. What did you run with e7’s? In all reality there’s no “cheap way” to go about it. Either way he’ll need/want the rest of the top end parts to go along with new heads.

There’s supposed to be a gap between the cable end and the FWA. “ Grasp the cable outer housing with one hand. Pull it forward: toward the radiator and away from the firewall. This may take some effort. You need to remove all slack from the system, which forces the throwout bearing (by design)...

No, the OP asked why the GT40’s “weren’t worth it.” The ‘93 Cobra is there to to represent the approximate power level he will making with his GT40 car in street trim. The Maxima is there to compare what sort of cars he can outrun with the power level he will be making. If he is ok with...

Ha! Ahh c’mon fellas, y’all didn’t like my “how to?” I had mine too tight the other day and it didn’t want to get in gear. I had to find that sweet spot. The sweet spot was around 5 lbs + a fingers worth of pressure on the pedal to make the pedal come off of the stop. Individual results may vary. 🤪
