Why the T-45 needs an aftermarket shifter!

OK, enough is enough. I read so many "tech" question's about "grind" when I shift my T-45 trans, so heres some FACTS:

The Borg-Warner T-45 is a strong trans, and it can be "power-shifted" or as some of you may say "speedshifted". The "stock" shifter is just that "STOCK" and should  NOT be used in ANY kind of performance application ! As per Borg-Warner, if you miss a shift and then try to "jam" it in gear you will bend the shift fork's. That is why many of you have a "grinding" noise when shifting. One thing you can do is go back to your dealer and tell them you what the Borg-Warner up-grade kit (stronger forks and detent). The next thing you can do is to install a aftermarket shifter that has positive stops, this helps to prevent you from over-pulling a gate, which can also bend shifting forks ( this by no means, WILL-NOT,  fix already hurt transmissions).I went with the PRO-5.0 Power tower shifter, and after 70 plus passes on my car NO PROBLEM This is my second transmission, as I also bent forks in mine last year. Borg-Warner sent me a complete unit to install, as i did this I  also switched to the  PRO-5.0 shifter and the Motorsports "King" Cobra clutch, and Amsoil synthetic ATF Borg-Warner says NO to this, but thats because synthetic's wont show any wear on gears and other internal parts( if they cant see wear problems they cant correct). Also while my trans was out I installed the Motorsports driveshaft, driveshaft loop, and Energy Suspension's urethane transmission mount. This stuff does work,as my 96 GT now trip's the 1/4 mile timer's at 13.97@97mph and  pulls 1.89 in 60 ft.

Installing the shifter is easy @ 1 hour to do from start to finish. This should help out alot.

Now JUST DO IT, and happy hunting !!
